Collegiate Shag social dance by the sea

Collegiate Shag classes will be over by June, but there is no need to stop being crazy about it! Come to dance Collegiate shag and practice all those moves you have learned during the classes.
We will play medium and uptempo music suitable for shag dancing. You are, of course, welcome to come and dance lindy hop or any other swing dance, but the music will be faster and not as swinging as usual.
Remember to bring your water bottle, dancing shoes, a towel, and an extra t-shirt.
Place: We will be dancing by the sea outside of the Navitas building – see the event cover above.

The Collegiate Shag is a partner dance done primarily to up-tempo swing and pre-swing jazz music (185-250+ beats per minute). It belongs to the swing family of American vernacular dances that arose in the 1920s and 30s.
