Vi er altid lykkelige når vi kan tilbyde inspiration fra udlandet til Månedens Workshop (MW). I august kommer Japanske danser og performer Ichi Go for at undervise MW i Movement Research. Hun har i en lang årrække arbejdet professionelt med contemporary dance og performance i Berlin og underviser bl.a. på Dock11. Vi kan love at det bliver en helt særlig og unik oplevelse, at være med på hendes workshop.
Workshoppen bliver undervist på engelsk/the workshop will be taught in english.
OM MÅNEDENS WORKSHOP AUGUST
The workshop focuses on Movement Research, a theme where we can freely express ourselves by activating our somatic senses, and investegate: “Where the dance starts from?”
One of the basic methods I will use in the workshop is to activate your body-field first and be aware of the connection between other dancers and the surrounding space through Dantian breathing, a technique similar to the ancient practice of breath control. My aim during the workshop is to support people in their awareness of what dance is and can be: an organic way of movement that channels vivacity and the force of nature.
The workshop will be based on guided improvisations, basic methods for movement research and energetic breathing techniques.

OM ICHI GO
Ichi Go was born in Japan and moved to Sacramento, California as an infant, where she began to dance just as soon as she could walk. After returning to Japan, she maintained her interest in physicality and movement, studying modern dance from the age of seven with tutors from the Fuji Mieko Modern Dance Company, with whom she performed from the age of 19 to 21. This intense, immersive tutelage and involvement with one of the most illustrious Japanese contemporary dance companies gave her a steady foundation on which to construct her personal style. For several years in her mid-20s, she was forced to stop dancing professionally and pursue other avenues, but in 2013, feeling a renewed sense of passion, she decided to move to Berlin to focus once again on establishing her artistic practice as the centerpiece of her life. Since then, she has worked extensively as a dancer both in the EU and internationally. Ichi has worked for clients and directors including: Sven Holm (NOVOFLOT), Kadir Amigo Memis, Yumiko Yoshioka (TEN PEN CHii Art Labor), Katarzyna Pastuszak (Amareya Theater & Guests), Daria Faïn (The Commons Choir), FMK International Dance festival (WS and perform, Vientiane, Laos), VAN Thi Ngoc Ai – Producer, Managing Director and VU Ngoc Khai –(Choreographer, Artistic Director of From “I” To Others project (Ho-Chi-Minh-City, Vietnam), and BMW (Mark Film). She has also established her own company, ELEKTRO KAGURA.
Her dance is characterized by the ability to develop and synchronize with her environment, an understanding which she gained from observing the ritual practices of shrine-maidens in her youth. She believes the body should be a receptacle, receiving and offering, sharing something which dwells within all of us.
