Switching Roles Classes
During these classes, we will play around with lead and follow. The art of switching in Lindy Hop/swing dance is being able to seamlessly change roles in the middle of a dance. If you enjoy having the dance being a back and forth conversation between you and your partner, this is the next step.
We will work on dancing your “off”-role/opposite role and being able to switch between leaders’ and followers’ footwork mid dance. We will talk about some of the technique behind switching and of course teach you some fun moves to give away or take the leading role.
When switching, you always need to be present and aware of your partner, because you never know when they might switch it up! For that reason this course will not only add a tremendous amount of fun to your dancing, it will also strengthen your general skills as a lindy hopper.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
You have completed at least one full semester on basic level or you have a minimum of 6 months basic experience from elsewhere.
It is not required that you have taken classes as both leader and follower, but having a strong sense of the fundamentals of lindy hop and having tried the opposite role, or at least footwork, once or twice will be a benefit, as the main focus will be on switching and not so much learning the other role.
