Aarhus Lindy Hoppers gives an introduction to lindy hop from 14-14.30, followed by open for all social dance. If you haven’t heard of Lindy Hop before, it is an energetic swing dance which was born in the African-American communities in Harlem, New York City, in 1928 and has evolved greatly since then. It was a fusion of many dances that were prevalent at the time, but is mainly based on jazz, tap, breakaway and Charleston. There is both partnered and solo dancing – this introduction will be to partnered dancing, but it is not neccessary to bring a partner.

Aarhus Lindy Hoppers will take over the floor in Danseteltet to social dance. It will be possible to ask the dancers to teach you a few steps, and you will be able to join in no time.

Program:
🚕 19.00-19.30 Free Taster Introduction to Lindy Hop
🚕 19.30-22.00 Jazz Music and Social Dancing
Concept of Taxi Dance:
Taxi dancers are usually the ones who have been dancing for a while. Taxi dancers are responsible for dancing with everyone: the shy one, who is standing by the wall, or the curious one, who is already tapping the foot. Aarhus Lindy Hoppers will take the responsibility to be taxi dancers for this evening.
Everyone is welcome to be a part of it. No previous experience is required. Come and invite your friends. We will do our best to include everyone as much as we can so that all of us can enjoy the flow of swing music.
You can donate 20 DKK during the event to cover cleaning expenses for this beautiful location.
We advise staying home if you feel sick. Sanitise your hands during the event.
