For level 2 & 3 (not new beginners or beginner 1 course)

1st workshop

In this workshop, we will talk about ways to give your dance a little bit of “oomph”. Or, to put it in more technical terms, we will learn techniques that create highlights and emphasis on a certain beat. We will especially learn about syncopation: a technique you can use to accelerate a pattern and end it with a bang! We will also look at patterns that you already know and find ways to give them more power and make them more exciting. So bring your best basics and we will get them to the next level!

2nd workshop

In the first workshop, you got the tools – now it’s time to use them. We will make a deep dive into musicality and, yes, a little bit of music theory. You will learn about the basic structure of (most) modern music and what that means for your dance. Breaks, phrase changes, swing rhythm – those are terms you will get to know in depth in this class. If you’re interested, you should practice counting to eight; we will do that a lot here!
