Event Details

Dear Contact Improvisation dancers!
I’m delighted to be offering this weekend intensive in Århus!
This intensive is open to experienced and beginners, though basic skills in CI is an advantage.

We will take a starting point from what I call a “natural place” in us; through somatic guided CI practices we will aim to access a natural flow and being-ness from where to explore the dance in all it’s colors and dimensions:
momentum, weight, textures of touch and the relation to time and space. We will play with space-time awareness in our dancing in a light and playful way, through stimulating a sensation and awareness of instant composition, design, group work. Unleashing a free and connected bond with our body; we will “train” the muscles and skills of accessing an expanded awareness of the bigger totality of our dance: the others, the space and the compositions and creations in space.
How can we read and serve best what the space needs, while being in absolute connection to ourselves? It will be an invitation and inquiry into what truly happens when we meet in an improvisation: ourselves, others, witnesses and movers, and the composition/musicality of a dance in the space.. Inspired by the very roots and early years of CI where the practice was witnessed by each other and an audience, we will play with conscious and subconscious composition, in solo, duet, trio and as an ensemble, including (embodied) witnessing as an essential part of the practice.
“Undoing. Wild, untamed. Safe, yet at the very edge of our being…”
I look forward to seeing you!
