In this one-day workshop, we’ll use inversions as a playful doorway into Contact Improvisation. Through a somatic approach we’ll be slowing down and paying attention to subtle sensations to discover more effortless and playful pathways into being upside down.

Rather than striving for the “perfect” handstand, we’ll cultivate curiosity, ease, and responsiveness – expanding our movement vocabulary through exploration instead of achievement.

We’ll approach the practice with childlike wonder, allowing ourselves to play, experiment and discover new possibilities in our bodies and in relation to one another. The upside-down world offers a chance to experience movement from a different perspective.

Level: No handstand experience is needed. However, this workshop involves supporting your body weight through your hands and arms, so it is important that you are comfortable exploring this.

🌟 FACILITATORS
Agnes [she/her] is a nervous system-informed Contact Improvisation teacher, dancer, and space holder. Her practice is rooted in somatics, meditation, trauma-informed bodywork, and community organisation. She is based Aarhus (DK) and has been sharing Contact Improvisation across Europe the past 8 years

Mathias [he/him] is a playful movement enthusiast who has spent much of his life turning the world upside down. Shaped by 17 years of performance and competition gymnastics, he recently fell in love with Contact Improvisation, where technique softens into listening and balance becomes something we create together
